How to apply for a new ration card online in Delhi?

Now, let me explain how you can apply for a Ration Card yourself without having to make repeated visits to an office.

Applying for it is very easy if you follow the method I am about to describe.

You do not need to worry about the application process differing based on your state.

This Ration Card application process is applicable across the states.

Step 1: Visit Your State Food Department Portal

As I always say, you should always use government websites for any legal or official tasks.

To apply for a ration card, you need to visit the National Food Security Portal (NFSP).

You can access this portal by searching for “NFSP” on Google or by clicking on this link.

Step 2: Register or Login

You will see a “Sign in/Registration” option in the corner of the NFSP homepage.

After clicking on it, a form similar to this will appear.

In these three sections, you will see “New user! Sign up here“; you need to click on that.

After clicking, a “Register New User” form will appear, looking something like this.

In the registration form, you need to fill in certain details, such as:

• Name(as per aadhar Card)
• DOB(Date of Birth)
• Login Id
• Password
• Gender
• Aadhaar number
• And little more…

Now, you need to agree to all the terms and conditions and click on “Submit“.

After submitting, a pop-up will appear asking you to enter the OTP sent to the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar.

Step 3:Sign In With Aadhaar

You should now see the three sections again:

1. Sign in with Aadhaar OTP
2. Sign in with login ID
3. Sign In with Ration Card No.

from these, select the first section, enter your Aadhaar number, and sign in.

After signing in, you will see an interface like this.

Step 4: Select New Registration

On this page, you will see the “Common Registration Facility” option; you need to click on it.

After clicking, select “New Registration” and proceed to the next step.

Step 5: Fill General Details

You will see a form like this on the new registration page.

First, you need to upload your image on this page.

Then, select your state—for example, Delhi (UT).

Next, select the scheme under which you wish to apply for a Ration Card.

Then, you need to enter some necessary information, such as:

1. Applicant’s Personal Details– Name, nickname, gender, DOB, mother name, father name, etc.
2. General Details– Beneficiary type, EPIC no., NPR no., etc.
3. Professional Details– Occupation and Annual income
4. Additional Details– Old RC no. and BPL number

1. Present Address Details– Present state, present district, present tahsil, present village/town, etc.
2. Permanent Address– Permanent state, permanent district, permanent tahsil, permanent village/town, etc.
3. Other Details– Caste category, Caste Certificate (img) and house type.

1. Gas Connection Details (Optional)– Status,gas company name, gas agency name and consumer no.
2. Physical Details (Optional)
3. Bank Details (Optional)– Account no., Bank name, branch name and IFSC code.
4. Critical illness (Optional)

After filling in all the details, you will see an interface like this.

Here, you will see an ‘Add members’ option where you need to enter the details of all your family members in the same way.

Step 6: Upload Documents

Once you have filled in the details for all your family members, 80% of the ration card application process will be complete.

You should now see an interface similar to this on your mobile screen:

Here, you need to upload certain mandatory documents, such as:

1. Identity proof
2. Address proof (Apply now for a Domicile Certificate)

After uploading these, scroll down a bit and click on ‘Save and Continue’.

Step 7: Final Details (Last Step)

After clicking ‘Continue’, you will be directed to another page where you need to provide some basic details and then click ‘Continue’ again.

You have now reached the final stage of the ration card application process.

At this final stage, you will see an interface like this:

Now, simply select your nearest Fair Price Shop and agree to the data usage consent.

Important: After successfully applying for the ration card, you will receive an application number; please keep it safe.

What are the different types of ration cards?

Ration cards vary across different states.

Here are the five most common types of ration cards found in most states:

• Priority Household (PHH) Card – This card falls under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and entitles the holder to subsidized food grains (5 kg per month).
• Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) Card – Issued to the poorest and most vulnerable families, this card provides up to 35 kg of food grains per month.
• Non-Priority Household (NPHH) Card – Individuals who do not qualify for benefits under the NFSA receive state-specific benefits through the NPHH category.
• State-Specific Ration Cards – These cards are issued by individual states and offer benefits tailored to the specific policies of that state.
• Digital/e-Ration Card – This is the online version of your physical ration card; it functions digitally and helps you access subsidized food grains on a monthly basis.
