History of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana

PM-KISAN Yojana was first announced in the Interim Union Budget 2019-20 on 1 February 2019 by then Finance Minister Piyush Goyal.

This scheme was launched mainly to provide direct monetary assistance to small farmers.

Earlier, PM-KISHAN Yojana was only for small and marginal farmers but now it is for all land owning farmers.

₹2,000 will be credited to your bank account through DBT (Direct Bank Transfer) in three equal installments, totaling ₹6,000 per year.

You do not need a large number of documents to apply for the scheme; you simply need to have the following documents:

How to apply PM-KISAN step by step?

Step 1: Visit the Official Portal

As I always mention, whenever you apply for any scheme, make sure to use the official government portal.

To apply for the PM-KISAN scheme, you need to visit “https://pmkisan.gov.in“.

Step 2: Access Farmer Services

Once on the website, scroll down and select the ‘New Farmer Registration‘ section. To access Farmer Services, you must first log in using a unique mobile number.

If you are applying for the first time, you need to enter the applicant’s Aadhaar number and mobile number, and select the state.

Then, fill in the reCAPTCHA and click on ‘Get OTP’.

After clicking ‘Get OTP’, you will instantly receive your Farmer ID on the same page; enter the OTP and submit the details.

Step 3: Fill Farmer Self Registration Details

After saving the Farmer ID, you will be directed to the next page.

On this page, you will see details linked to your Aadhaar card, such as: Farmer’s Name, Mother’s/Father’s Name, Address, PIN Code, Farmer ID, Mobile Number, and Date of Birth.

Some fields may be blank and will need to be filled in manually, such as:

Step 4: Fill Land Details

After completing Step 2, scroll down to enter your land details.

First, specify the type of land ownership (Single or Joint).

Then, fill in details such as the Khata number, land vesting date, Patta number, details of the previous owner, etc.

Step 5: Upload Documents

After filling all these, you simply have to upload one document which is very important.

Upload PDF of your land proof which is clear and verified.

What Happens After PM Kisan Registration?

After applying for PM-KISAN, you might expect to start receiving payments immediately, but that is not the case.

Following the application, there are several verification stages involved in the process:

  • Aadhaar verification
  • Bank account validation
  • Land record verification
  • State government approval
  • Inclusion in the beneficiary database
  • Release of installments

The time required for this verification process may vary slightly from state to state.

What to do if PM-KISAN is rejected?

Many people panic after their application is rejected and apply for PM-KISAN again.

You should not do that; there can be many reasons for a rejection, such as:

Once you apply for PM-KISAN using the method I described, the application process itself is complete.

However, the work doesn’t end there.

If you truly want your application to be 100% successful, you also need to check your PM-KISAN status.

To check the status, simply follow these steps:

Step 1: Visit the website https://pmkisan.gov.in
Step 2: Scroll down and open the ‘Beneficiary Status’ section.
Step 3: Log in by entering your Aadhaar number or Registration Number.
Step 4: Next, simply complete the verification process.
Step 5: After completing the previous step, your beneficiary status will be displayed, allowing you to monitor it.

In the status report, you will see one of the following: pending, approved, or requires correction.
