Step 1: Open Your State’s Citizen Service Portal

For any legal work you have to always visit the government portal.

There are different government platforms to apply for different legal documents.

For necessary documents like Income Certificate, you have to visit its official portal ‘National Services Portal‘.

By clicking on this link you can immediately go to https://services.india.gov.in.

You have come to the e-district portal of your state.

Step 2: Create an Account

Once you arrive at the e-District portal, click on ‘Register‘ to create your account.

If you already have an account, you can log in by entering your registration ID and password.

After creating the account, you will see a ‘Citizen Registration Form‘ that looks something like this:

You need to fill out this form completely, entering the required details using your Aadhaar card.

After filling out the form, click on ‘Complete Registration‘.

Upon completion, you will receive a confirmation code on your phone; enter this code and download the ‘Registration Acknowledgement‘ form.

Step 3: Select Income Certificate Service

You would have received a registration number and password in the registration acknowledgement.

You need to log in using this registration ID.

After logging in, you will see an interface like this:

Here, click on ‘Apply Online’ and then on ‘Apply for Services’.

Next, you will see a page for the Department of Revenue; click on ‘Apply’ next to the 6th option, ‘Issuance of Income Certificate’.

Step 4: Enter Family Income Details

After clicking on ‘Apply’, you will see the Basic/Personal Details form displaying the information you previously entered.

You filled in these details at the time of login; please review them once.

Note: If any information is incorrect, click ‘Edit’ to correct it so that you do not face any issues in the future.

After reviewing, click ‘Continue’ to proceed to the next page.

On this page, you need to enter some information related to the Income Certificate.

Information such as—

  1. Purpose to obtain Certificate
  2. Place of Residence (Yes/No)
    • Rent amount (optional)
  3. Whether Income Certificate Issued Earlier (Yes/No)
  4. Do you have Electricity Bill (Yes/No)
    • How much electricity bill (optional)
  5. Are You Ration Card holder (Yes/No)
  6. Are you Income tax Payer (Yes/No)
  7. Amount for Children school fee
  8. Annual Family Income from all sources

Step 5: Upload Documents

After filling in all these details, a page similar to this will appear.

Here, you need to upload all the required documents, such as:

  1. Identity Proof of Applicant- Aadhar Card, Ration Card, Voter ID Card ,etc. (Any One)
  2. Residence Proof- Current Address proof like Domicile Certificate of Delhi
  3. Self Declaration
  4. Other documents(optional)

After uploading all these documents, you must click Continue to Next to proceed.

After this, you will need to upload a photo of yourself. (The image must be identical and clear.)

Step 6: Submit Application

As soon as you upload your photo and click Submit, you will be presented with an Acknowledgement Receipt.

This receipt indicates that your Income Certificate application has been successful.

This Acknowledgement Receipt will display all the details you filled in, along with your Registration ID.

Income certificate Track Application

When you completed the registration, you would have received a registration number and a password.

To track your Income Certificate application, you simply need to follow the steps outlined below.

Step 1: First, visit your state’s e-District portal.

Step 2: Once on the official website, click on “Track Application Status” or “Application Status.”

Step 3: Enter the registration number and password provided on the acknowledgement receipt.

Step 4: Enter the OTP received on your mobile number and verify the reCAPTCHA code.

Step 5: Click “Submit” to view the current status.

Step 6: After submitting, check the application status—whether it shows Pending, Under Verification, Approved, or Rejected.

Step 7: If the application is approved, click “Download” to download your Income Certificate.

If you have followed the method exactly as described, there is a 99.9% chance that your Income Certificate will be approved.

Renewing or updating your income certificate is not a very difficult task.

You simply need to add one extra step to the application process: instead of selecting “Income Certificate Service,” you must select “Income Certificate Renewal.”

Please note that the renewal or update process is not available in some states; in such cases, you will have to apply afresh.
